Our Story…

James Cunningham , Cian O’Connor and Cathal McMunn

As horse owners we face many of the same challenges. There are many things which we can get right or wrong even before we get on our horse and ride off into the sunset! For example, you wouldn't expect to win a class if you started by putting the saddle on backwards, right!

On this journey we talked to thousands of horse owners. We asked them about feeding. In particular we asked when and why they gave supplements. Our research showed that most horse owners use the 'shut the stable door after the horse has bolted' approach to supplementation. Using supplements to fix a problem rather than prevent that problem from happening in the first place. Research shows that up to 90% of sport horses suffer from equine ulcers or a poorly functioning digestive system. Both can have a huge impact on your horses physical appearance, performance, well being and their mental state and can often lead to colic, acidosis and laminitis. If we could optimise gut function we could not only help fix most of these issues but also actually prevent them from happening in the first place. This was when we saw that we had an opportunity, not only to help horses but to help horses and people work better together.
